Wrapping Up Revalis
Once again, one player was absent this session.
As soon as Aeila recovered from her stun, she promptly attempted to murder Revalis Khalli, and only the quick words of her companions stayed her hand. Barely. This was of course a relief for the Satemo, who was not interested in being bisected by an eight foot tall cyborg madwoman. Moving slowly so as to not anger her further, he pulled out a holo-device and called his sister, Atrin, to bargain with the party.
Despite Atrin’s beauty and graceful words, the party rejected her request for the return of Trinity. Adding insult to injury, they also decided to simply abduct Revalis anyway, breaking parlay with him. The gladiatrix, seeing that there was no hope of victory at this point, used her feminine wipes to charm Lyra into letting her go. After a brief encounter between the sultry Ranathim and the playful half-Asrathi in one of the upstairs bedrooms, she escaped with her pyre whip and both Niltanium khopeshes. Aeila however refused to part with either of the psi-blades.
A Brief Pause
The party called Vargo and agree’d to one of his offers. A short time later, Rhee Kitee swooped by with the Slaver’s Ranger-class shuttle to escort Luckpicker, Revalis, and Julie up to the ship, along with the injured Vance. Meanwhile, Cero checked in on Trinity as she packed a suitcase for interstellar travel. He comforted her, and handed her the Keleni journal her father kept. She admitted to being familiar with the language and thanked him.
Meanwhile, Lee made a call to Terrilee Jones, demanding 250,000 for the girl. After a bit of haggling with the clever negotiator, Jones accepted, but she would need time to get the cash. The party needed to wait for their getaway shuttle anyway, so agreed to meet that evening.
They kept moving until sunset, not allowing their pursuers to get a lock on their location. At one point, they spotted a distant figure in the sky, an armored person flying with motes of flame around their person. While Lyra dismissed it as a jetpack rider, the others were not convinced.
Bad Business
Finally, the appointed time arrived, and when it did Lyra had a plan.
The party approached the open-air cafe Terrilee chose as the place for the deal. Aeila scanned the area and located a marksman on a nearby roof as well as the eight armed men in the cafe with their contact. Cero pulled his air car up alongside the terrace, keeping it low for now, as the others climbed the stairs. Lee took the lead, while Lyra and Aeila flanked Trinity like guards. Terrilee sat at a table towards the back, close to the bar. Upon the table before her sat a simple, unassuming case.
She greeted Lee, and invited the aristocrat to take a look. Inside the case, they found 25 laminate printed slave bonds. Before Terrilee could say anything else, Lee closed the case and took off running.
In that same moment, Aeila fired a missile from her cybernetic arm, blowing up the whole corner of the building where the sniper lurked. Lyra took Trinity’s hand and ran to the parapet as Cero raised the aircar to the level of the terrace. Seeing the double cross, Terrilee kicked her own table over and took shelter behind it. She realized there was little to be gained from fighting this out, so called a retreat and dropped smoke on her own position.
Aeila was not going to allow the other gunmen to get away so easily. The knight of Kain felt the wrath of her ancestor Lothar coursing through her veins. In fury, she took her carbine and began blasting. Like an angel of death, she shot down every single one of the mooks Terrilee had brought to their deaths.
Such is the power of Unconscious Communion.
Escape from Samsara
Moments later, Rhee Kitee descended from the sky in her shuttle. The gang hastily loaded the air car into its vehicle port and climbed in. It was another two hour trip up to Vargo’s waiting ship, but they had done it. They had Trinity, they had a case full of money, they had other captives to trade for more cash and a ride away from the planet, and they had not had to sacrifice too many morals along the way.
Aboard the Xanadu-class luxury yacht, Vargo paid them for Revalis and Julie in a mixture of food bonds and Sefalina temple coins and congratulated them. He spoke to them of their destination, a planet home to a large Westerly colony, a planet known as Karangbesi…
In addition to the session, however, several players had in-depth conversations in the downtime afterwards. I’ll go over the events of those in another post.
Lessons Learned
There were not many lessons to learn this time. The party worked well together and accomplished their goals without facing significant out-of-game obstacles. I am quite happy with how it played out.
